Starting from the assumption that there is no such thing as an abstract photograph, because every single one has a direct connection to its referent on the physical world, these series of images propose to operate a game: at the same time they search for an identification and they escape from it. We know they are representing a thing, but the image is ambivalent about that thing. They have a disturbed relation with codes and to what they look like. These hypothesis-images, an accumulation of movement and duration, synthesized by the mechanical eye of the photographic camera, exist only as a theoretical possibility in the world of objects. As a visual essay, lending it’s name from Heidegger’s famous course “Die Frage nach dem Ding”, the images are more interested on the question - What is a thing? - than on its answers.

Partant de l’hypothèse qu’il n’y a pas une photographie dite abstraite, puisqu’elle est toujours liée à son référent dans le monde concrète, ce série de photographies suggère un jeu: au même temps qu’elles cherchent un lieu d’identification, elles veulent l’échapper. Nous savons qu’elles représentent une chose, mais l’image est ambivalente en relation à son contexte. Les deux traduisent une perturbation aux codes et à eux-mêmes.

Ces images-hypothèse, une accumulation du mouvement et de la durée, sont synthétisés par l’œil mécanique de l’appareil photo, existent seulement comme une possibilité théorétique dans le monde des objets. 

Ce projet s’intéresse à  l’exploration des mécanismes de représentation dans la photographie, en opérant des jeux de visibilité que seulement la “grammaire” de la photographie nous peut présenter.

En tant qu’essai visuel, il tire son nom du cours fameux “Die Frage nach dem Ding” de Martin Heidegger, les images sont plus intéressés à la question - Qu’est-ce qu’une chose? - qu’à ses réponses.

le jeu de l'image

Tomando como ponto de partida que não existem fotografias abstractas, uma vez que cada uma delas partilha uma ligação directa com o seu referente no mundo físico, esta série de imagens sugere um jogo: ao mesmo tempo procuram uma identificação e fogem dela. Sabemos que estamos perante a representação de uma coisa, mas a imagem é ambivalente acerca dela. Estas imagens têm uma relação perturbada com os códigos e com a sua aparência. São imagens-hipótese, uma acumulação de movimento e duração, sintetizada pelo olho mecânico da câmara fotográfica, que existem apenas como uma possibilidade teórica no mundo dos objectos. Enquanto ensaio visual, que toma de empréstimo o seu título do famoso curso de Heidegger “Die Frage nach dem Ding”, estas imagens estão mais interessadas na pergunta - O que é uma coisa? - do que nas suas respostas.
